Chuck Shelton, a Rolla native, played football for Rolla High School, one of Rolla's two undefeated seasons, and later in college for Pittsburg State University. He went on to coach football at both the high school and college levels, and he is now employed in a position helping Utah State raise money for a new football stadium. His first book, Return to Rolla, was an autobiographical book about the town in which he grew up, and his childhood played a large role in the shaping of the book. Shelton's other work, Jarrett, is a western story.
